After a long 126 days of forced hiatus from the March Arnold Sports Festival, on Saturday 11 July, the first two events were held under the flag of Jim Manion's IFBB Pro Professional League. One of them was Northern California Pro 2020, in which professional fitness bikinis competed to qualify for the Olympia show in Las Vegas. I must say that the tournament was held in very unusual conditions with unprecedented quarantine restrictions. Both behind the scenes and on stage, special squares were marked with tape, which determined the position of individual participants and guaranteed them sufficient distance between themselves. The female athletes also had to set their posing music via the website, which ensured social distance from the staff. The IFBB judges identified one direct qualification for the 2020 Olympia for the winner, and the top five participants were awarded several points in the qualifying ratings, which is another way to participate in the main show of the season. This time the judges were most impressed by Brazilian Lucia Malavaze, who thus achieved her first victory in the professional league. Her most significant opponent was American Ashlyn Brown, for whom earning five points for second place moved to the top of the qualifying rankings. Abby Gaetano, Brina Martinez and Gina Scafoglio also entered the TOP-5. Despite all the efforts that the organizers have invested time and money in, the owners of the McClellan convention center, where the tournament was held, decided to close it this week due to the consequences of the pandemic and an uncertain future. This made it difficult for the organizing companies of other competitions, which were to take place in the said premises this year.
