For 56 years of its existence, Olympia has had three owners. Joe Weider created the event in 1965 to then hire Wayne DeMilia to direct the show from 1984 to 2013. During his reign, Wayne managed to organize a larger and more interesting event. Then, in 2014, Olympia Weekend was acquired by David Pecker of AMI. He also continued to build on Wayne DeMilia's work to make the event even more spectacular. With David Pecker dealing with other troubled projects, it was time to find a new owner for the Olympia brand. After months of rumors, Dan Solomon made a big announcement (read more at ironflex.com.ua) that Jake Wood is the new owner. And Dan played an important role in this historic moment. Jake began his reign by keeping people who know and are passionate about the sport. Dan Solomon was hired in 2019 to direct the show for AMI and after he did a fantastic job, Jake asked him to stay. Dan Solomon named President and CEO of Olympia and Muscle & Fitness. At Digital Muscle Monday Night Muscle, Jake Wood was the main guest. Bob Chicherillo did a great job with the questions that helped get to know Jake better. Jake Wood – Who is he? The first question was about finance, since not everyone can just spend millions to buy the Olympia brand. Where did Jake make all his money? The answer to this question is the aerospace industry. Jake has inherited a multi-million dollar business of parts that are used in 70% of the aircraft that operate worldwide. Having a lot of money and a passion for bodybuilding is a win-win situation for the world of iron sports. He personally saved women's bodybuilding and eventually managed to bring him back to the Olympia Weekend stage after a six-year absence. Bob continues to ask Jake what introduced him to bodybuilding and which gyms he trained in. Jake has surprisingly trained at some of the most historic gyms in sports history. He first started training at the Vince Gironda's gym – in 1976, Jake went to the Vince Gironda's gym. It was the gym where the biggest stars trained. In the end, Vince kicked Jake out for being caught kissing his girlfriend at the front desk. Jake moved to Don Peters' gym to continue his workouts. Don's Gym was another very popular gym at the time. Women's bodybuilding. It is a fact that Wood is a big fan of female bodybuilding. Jake started practicing and promoting this women's division in 2009. After a simple letter to Tim Gardner, Jake began sponsoring Gardner's events to then promote his own bodybuilding competitions with a focus on women's bodybuilding. The Wings of Strength Women's World Championship was created to give these athletes a huge platform to compete with the highest prize-winning prizes.
