What is the flu

The flu is a virus that spreads quickly and with a high probability of causing serious complications. The flu can mutate and acquire various new modifications, which leads to uncontrolled spread of the infection (epidemic, pandemic). The main difference between the flu and other respiratory infections (ARI) is its ability to change rapidly and accumulate mutations, circulating in nature among animals and birds. His new subtypes can elude the defensive reaction of our immune system that leads to the development of a large number of complications with flu.

Types

The most common seasonal flu, but there are flu viruses that can cause pandemic (epidemic), and they differ from each other. Seasonal flu viruses tipiloura, and they create a vaccine based on the most likely strains in a certain season. In the first this autumn and winter, but occasionally observed influenza and in the rest of the year. In some tropical countries influenza viruses circulate year-round, reaching one or two peaks during rainy seasons. But the flu viruses that cause a pandemic, a vaccine impossible. This is due to the fact that, circulating in nature among animals and birds, the flu virus mutates.

Distribution

The risk group includes those who are in contact with a large number of people: medical staff, employees of transport services, reporters, military personnel, and children in preschool, school children, students and seniors older than 60-65 years. Flu viruses can accumulate different mutations, to evolve, to change its properties and cause complications in case of illness. But this topic is still not well understood. There is a view about the possible places the reservation of influenza viruses. We are talking about people with special giorgijevski immune response — when the aggression of the microorganisms is stronger than the immunity of the patient. That is the person, for example, got the flu, recovered, but the virus in the body not been completely defeated. The body inhibits the flu virus, the person does not hurt anymore, but minimal activity of the virus remains. Therefore, the virus can persist in the body for a long time, thus having the opportunity to mutate. In the future, the mutated virus can spread through contact of a human host.

Vaccination

Mass vaccination campaigns against seasonal flu strain and, unfortunately, do not protect against strains that cause pandemics. Currently, foreign available vaccine “Vaksihryp” and domestic “Grippol plus” and “Ultrix”. For the patient the fundamental differences between vaccines no, but “Grippol plus” contains a bit less amount of antigens recommended by who. Also it includes polyoxidonium, which, according to the manufacturer, whereas the number of antigens, but studies proving its effectiveness is currently lacking. If you approach the issue of vaccination carefully, the complications are minimized. It is preferable to be vaccinated in medical institutions, where it can be given first aid in the case of, for example, allergic reactions.

Contraindications

The main contraindication — allergic reaction to chicken protein and antibiotics of the aminoglycoside and polymyxin (for vaccines containing them). Also vaccination is contraindicated if SARS or exacerbation of chronic process, in the case of a severe reaction or complication on the previous administration of the vaccine. It is impossible to take root in systemic connective tissue diseases, diseases of the adrenal glands and in hereditary and degenerative diseases of the nervous system. With regard to vaccinations for children — regulations it is forbidden to vaccinate children under the age of 6 months and in the period from six months to two years, the vaccination occurs in two stages with the aim of creating tension immunity.

Prevention

In addition to vaccination is good prevention, early hardening of the body and timely treatment of chronic diseases, especially respiratory tract and broncho-pulmonary system. But such conventional prophylactic measures like supplementation of vitamins or homeopathic remedies will not have a noticeable preventive effect.
